Obama In Boulder To Talk Student Loans At CU

President Barack Obama spoke to a crowd of University of Colorado students in Boulder Tuesday. He talked about student loans.

If Congress doesn’t act by July, the interest rate for new subsidized Stafford loans will double. Obama is pushing for Congress to prevent that increase.

“Once we graduate we have ridiculous amounts of loans and it’s hard to pay them off because a lot of times you end up with a job as a waitress or in retail because it’s hard to find professional work,” student Keli Baker said.

The speech is geared towards college students. For CU students, it is an event they couldn’t miss.

“I think it’s important to know about what’s going on in politics and the country. Also I really like Obama and I think it’ll be interesting to see him speak,” Baker said.

The line for tickets wrapped all the way around a parking lot and went even farther up the street with a number of students that have lined up hours before the tickets were being given away.

Obama's speech is scheduled for 6:30 Tuesday evening.

A small group of about 30 protested Obama.

The last president to visit Boulder was Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954, when he dedicated what is now the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

What does it means when the electorate is too stupid to see there is ZERO difference between the political parties? It means we will always have the government we deserve. Thanks to the moronic, partisan hacks who made this possible!!

I think the major parties are still on different sides of the spectrum (admittedly, more centrist than ever), but agree that the whole affair is a gargantuan "fluster cluck" at this point.

Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of conscious. Any one against this can take a long walk on a very short pier.

So, Obama is flying around the country at a few million dollars a pop from the taxpayer piggy bank and buying votes. What else is new? In this case, he's trying to buy student votes with cheaper student loans. Imagine that. Of course, unless they graduate with a hard-science degree in engineering or the like, those poor students will be saddled with those loans the rest of their lives. After all, what's the current unemployment/underemployment rate for recent college grads under our current Obammunist economic system, something like 53%? I bet Zero doesn't pull as many votes from those who have graduated during his tenure as Dictator-in-Chief, do you? Still, I suppose Obama could buy votes from those hapless graduates by promising to forgive their loans all together, which a few of his Communist allies in Congress have been proposing. Makes you wonder though what he's going to promise the out-of-work coal miners in West Virginia, since Obummer has made coal-mining illegal and thrown them all out of work forever. West Virginia freshman U.S. Senator Joe Manchin is wondering the same thing too right now since he just announced he won't endorse Obama's re-election bid. Joe says he's too busy trying to save his own hide after he stabbed the West Virginia voters in the back the week after they elected him by voting for Obamacare even though he PROMISED he would vote against it. But, hey, that's the Democrats for you. Lie and say anything you have to to get elected and then do whatever you want if you can trick enough voters to give you a victory, after all, the voters are probably stupid and won't remember anyway.

They claim this wasn't a campaign stop. Really? A democratic president pandering to the liberal mecca in Boulder. Instead of lower interest how about affordable education and a job to pay the tab when they are done. The colleges have now added so many required credits to degree programs that the old 4 year degree has now become more like a 5 year degree program.

World government. The USA needs to fall to lower standards to join the fun. Well, it appears to be happening but THAT can't be the reason, can it? Romney? Another globalist with the same agenda.

Even if the interest rate was zero, how do these kids think they can pay on their loans without a job? Of course Obama wants to pay the bill after 20 yrs. I see no incentive to pay anything?

Colorado is one of the KEY states to decide this election. Think of our kids & grandkids who will inherit this debt & have to pay China back. They will never be able to afford a new home, car, whatever, especially is he has 4 more years to add 5 more TRILLION to the debt! Remember them in November.

Just wow wow, thanks for this information. It is well informed voter's like you that awaken us to what this charleton in chief is trying to do. I hope these young people don't buy into his hopey changey thing again. I wonder as well, why he's campaigning at the colleges? Is he afraid to go out amongst the common folk?
