Firefighters Injured On Scene Of Apartment Fire

Firefighters say they have "knocked down" a structure fire at a an apartment complex on the southwest side of the Springs.

The fire was reported Wednesday at the Summit Apartments near Lake and Ventucci around 8:30 a.m.

Two firefighters were hurt at the scene and taken to the hospital for treatment. A CSFD spokesperson told 11 News the firefighters slipped on ice while they were working. One sustained a minor injury, while the other broke a leg.

A search of the apartment complex revealed all occupants got out. One apartment was damaged by flames, while another had smoke damage. No one was home in those apartments when the fire started.
