A flight headed to Las Vegas from DIA was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing Monday.
United Airlines spokesperson Rahsaan Johnson says United Airlines Flight 243 en route to Las Vegas with a crew of five and 144 passengers pushed away from the gate at 8:30 a.m. as scheduled. The crew soon noticed an unusual smell in the cockpit, it was also reported in the cabin of the Airbus 320.
The flight crew elected to return to DIA. The plane made an emergency landing without incident, taxied and gated normally. There were no injuries to anyone on board.
Passengers boarded an 11:15 a.m. flight to Vegas. Mechanics are checking the Airbus 320 to determine what caused the odor.
DIA spokesperson Jenny schiavone says the plane was 60 miles out when it turned around.
