Suspected Wrong-Way Driver Wanted On Multiple Charges

A stolen car rolled on I-25 Monday night, after a chase with Springs police.

Michael Plassmeyer was arrested and is facing several charges related to the crash. He was also wanted on several unrelated charges, including sexual assault, menacing and assault.

It started Monday night when police saw a car go through two red lights on Garden of the Gods Road. Police tried to stop the driver, but officers said the driver got on the interstate heading the wrong way.

After officers forced a crash near the Fillmore Street bridge, the suspect got out of the car and started running. Officers caught Plassmeyer and found out he was trying to get away from bail bondsmen earlier in the night.

11 News looked into his background and obtained court records on at least three cases involving Plassmeyer.

Two involve accounts of Plassmeyer threatening to kill a woman, who also said Plassmeyer punched her in the face and rammed her car. A third involves a car crash Plassmeyer is suspected of causing in 2010, when his license was revoked.

Booking information indicates Plassmeyer has failed to show up for court proceedings in eight different cases involving him. He was listed as an inmate at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center as of late Tuesday night.

His bond is set at $282,000.
