A Colorado Springs woman is the star of a major movie premiering Friday. It's called Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, and it's produced by James Cameron.
Erica Linz plays Mia, one of the main characters.
Linz grew up in Colorado Springs, and graduated from Air Academy High School. She was also involved in the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale.
Her mom tells 11 News Linz got involved in Cirque du Soleil right out of high school, and has been doing it for about ten years. She says Linz has been a performer her entire life.
"She has always been involved in theater, music, performance of some sort or another. She started gymnastics when she was four and was invited to a birthday party, and never looked back," said Mary-Mike Linz, the acrobat's mom.
Linz' mom tells 11 News it can be difficult watching her daughter perform the intricate stunts, often 40 feet in the air.
The family saw the movie last week during a private screening, but they are planning to watch it in the theater on Friday.
