The Colorado Springs Utilities Wildland Fire Team will be conducting agricultural burns today, April 26.
The burns will be taking place at Pinello Ranch, 4940 S. Highway 85/87.
The Wildland Team says these burns will increase water flow efficiency, to protect local water rights, as well as reduce the likelihood of wildfire by clearing excess brush and vegetation from irrigation ditches.
If you are traveling along I-25, Academy Boulevard and Highway 85/87 today you may see smoke in the distance.
The Wildland Fire Team serves to protect water resources and infrastructure on properties managed and operated by Colorado Springs Utilities.
