A suspect threatened a clerk at Springs check cashing business and got away with an unknown amount of money before police arrived on scene.

Officers are searching for the man behind the robbery.

According to police, the suspect entered Check Into Cash just after 4 p.m. and loitered while waiting for customers to leave. After the business cleared out, he approached the clerk and demanded money. Though he reportedly told the clerk he had a weapon, one was never seen.

A K-9 unit searched the area, but was unable to locate him.

The suspect has been described as a white male in his early-to-mid 20s, 5-foot-7 and slim, with a long brown goatee. He was dressed in a camouflage coat and jeans, topped off with a gray stocking cap and large, black-framed glasses.

This is the third robbery this month at Check Into Cash. The business, located on 542 S. Academy, was robbed at the beginning of April and on April 10. The suspect description in those robberies does not match the one from Tuesday's robbery.

If you have any information on Tuesday's robbery, call police at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
