Carmel Middle School in District 2 was on a brief "lockout" Thursday afternoon during a domestic situation nearby.
Police tell 11 News that something about a gun was mentioned when they got the call about the domestic situation, so they automatically put the school on what the district called a "lockout."
Once officers got to the scene on Planewood, about a block from the school, they were unable to find a gun. No one was arrested, and police say the situation is resolved.
The lockout was lifted after 20 minutes. As of 1:20 p.m. the school is operating as normal.
