"Pothole-Palooza" kicked of Monday, with crews from the Colorado Springs Streets Division fanning out across the city to start filling and smoothing those obnoxious road hazards.

Many of those working Monday also plow the streets during winter snowstorms, and knew just where to begin their work.

"Some of the bigger ones we'll find when we're plowing," equipment operator Allen Sutton told 11 News. "You can feel it real good and say 'I need to write that down and come back to it.'"

In 2012 crews fixed nearly 29,000 potholes. The city is hoping to repair potholes faster than ever this year, but now they need your help in locating all of them.

The city Streets Division is asking that you call them about any potholes you see around town. You can call the Pothole Hotline: 385-ROAD (7623).

The Streets Division asks that you provide as many of the following details as you can to help crews find the potholes:

-Street name
-Direction of traffic flow (northbound, westbound, etc)
-Nearby cross streets
-Closest address
-Landmarks nearby, such as buildings
-Side of the street
-Location in the street
-Distance from the curb

A high volume of calls are expected, so the city says not to expect a personal reply.

The additional funding from City Council is expected to decrease repair time from five weeks to two weeks, as six full-time crews will now be dedicated to repairing potholes. Potholes in major areas will be prioritized, and should be repaired much quicker than two weeks.
