Nearly 350 soldiers from Fort Carson were welcomed home early Sunday morning after serving almost a year in Afghanistan.
Soldiers with the 110th Military Police, the 3rd Brigade Combat Team and the 4th Brigade Combat Team made their customary entrance through the cloud of smoke to a packed auditorium of cheering family and friends.
The 110th Military Police deployed to Afghanistan in April and established multiple bases of operations. The 110th also assisted in developing a Provincial Afghanistan Response Police Company to assist Coalition forces and local nationals.
The 3rd Brigade Combat Team advised, mentored and trained Afghan National Security Forces throughout the southern provinces of Kandahar, Uruzgan and Zabul.
The 4th Brigade Combat Team assumed responsibility for four provinces in April. They patrolled an area the size of Maryland.
