Sisters Killed in Crash

Two sisters were killed in a crash in Alamosa County when their car spun out of control. It happened Thursday afternoon along Colorado 160, about three miles west of Alamosa.

Investigators say Jolene Ford, 44, was driving westbound when she lost control of her 2006 Saturn sedan. She spun into the eastbound lanes and slammed into a semi truck. She and her sister, 50-year old Jean Ford, were killed.

The driver of the semi truck, 45-year old Steven Tempelton of Arkansas, was not hurt. Everyone was wearing seatbelts, and investigators say drugs and alcohol are not suspected.

Authorities say while roads at the crash scene were icy and covered in snow, to the west and east, they were clear. Authorities remind drivers to be ready for quickly changing conditions during winter storms.
