Authorities are seeking help in identifying a skeleton found a short walk from Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Tuesday says the skeleton was found last week by hikers about 3/10 of a mile above and to the west of the iconic amphitheater. The amphitheater west of Denver is the site of dozens of concerts and other events throughout the year and is a popular outdoor recreation area.

Hikers found the bleached skeleton Friday in thick brush and rugged terrain. Blue sweatpants or shorts were also found on the skeleton that appeared to have been there for some time. Authorities could not immediately determine the gender.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call: 303-271-5612.
