A security officer reportedly took a shot at a person suspected of breaking into at least six storage units.

Police say the security officer caught the burglar in the act.

According to police, the suspect was trying to get into a storage unit when the security officer confronted him. The officer told police that the suspect raised his arms as though he was aiming, and he thought he saw a pistol in the suspect's hands. That's when the security officer reportedly fired a shot.

The suspect ran away, and police say there is no evidence that he was hit. They searched the area with K-9s but did not locate him.

Police say the suspect burglarized at least six storage units at the Motor City Mini Storage before his run-in with the security officer.

The incident happened at 11:14 p.m. Sunday.
