An anonymous donor handed over a $75,000 check to the Salvation Army in Colorado Springs this week. The generous donation helped them recover from the $40,000 dollars they estimated they were short this season.
That money went a long way on Christmas day, helping to serve thousands of people in need, by providing them a hot meal.
Guests were served Christmas Dinner today in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, and Fountain Valley. The Salvation Army says even though they are grateful for the huge donation, they couldnt do it without everyone's help.
Captain Eric Wilkerson, a volunteer with the Salvation Army tells KKTV,
"It's not just the people who donate huge amounts of money. It's the people who give $50, $100, or $10. We are so grateful for all of you and we thank you for your support."
The Salvation Army is accepting donations to help cover the cost of this meal all though the holiday season.
If you would like to donate, please call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
