The El Paso County Coroner's office has identified the victims of a double murder as David Dunlap and Whitney Butler.
Springs police say the couple walked into the home on Bassett Dr. while it was being burglarized and were shot.
Police were called to the area around noon Monday.
Monday night investigators were still at the house where it happened, on Bassett Drive, near Circle and Airport.
Sources tell 11 News that Fort Carson is now also a part of this investigation, but they didn't say why they were involved.
Our crews said they'd seen numerous military personnel at the crime scene throughout the day.
We have also learned that police are talking with a person of interest as of Monday night.
Several schools were on lockdown Monday afternoon and police told neighbors to be cautious and to stay vigilant.
