The heavy rain and flash flooding that followed caused a small section of roadway to collapse Sunday. Road crews were working on a temporary repair to a sinkhole late Sunday night.
The problem appeared in front of Martinez Elementary School near Vickers and Rangewood on the north side of Colorado Springs. You can see in the picture that part of the road surface cracked and collapsed right near a manhole.
City crews told 11 News they don't expect the damages to have a major impact on school traffic or on the commute in general on Monday.
