A 16-year-old boy was shot during a robbery attempt at Palmer Park Monday evening.
Police say the suspect still has not been located.
11 New spoke with the teen, who is back at home recovering and is doing okay.
The teen was hanging out on the east side of the park, not far from the Sierra Point Apartments.
He tells 11 News he was on a walk, when a stranger came up to him demanding he hand over his earrings. The teen said no and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the boy in the shoulder. Nothing was taken.
The victim made his way over to Sierra Point, where neighbors heard him calling for help and found him bleeding. They called 911 and he was transported to the hospital.
The teen tells 11 News it happened in a split second, and he wasn't sure what to do.
The suspect is a black male in his mid-30s, over 6 feet tall with a heavy build. He reportedly had shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a black shirt with tan cargo style pants.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call Springs police right away.
