Moderate snow continues to fall for some areas of northern El Paso and Teller Counties, accumulating in the grass and yards. Meanwhile, in the plains and along the southern I-25 stretch, light rain/snow mix continues. Take it slow on the roadways - due to VERY strong winds, we are seeing blowing dirt and snow (depending on the region), which is tremendously reducing visibility. A teen prowler allegedly tried to bite an officer on the arm after being apprehended early Wednesday morning.
Residents in a northeast Springs neighborhood called police after reportedly seeing a male prowling around homes in the area. The homes were located on the 5200 block of Smokehouse Lane, near Oro Blanco and North Carefree.
When responding officers approached the suspect, he took off running, but was caught a short time later. Police say the teen tried to fight the officers off, even trying to bite one before they were able to take him into custody. During the investigation, police reportedly found burglary tools associated with the suspect.
The teen's name has not been released due to his age, but police say he is a 15-year-old male that lives in the area.
