Officers unwittingly stumbled upon a stolen car after trying to offer help to a stalled motorist Saturday night.
According to police, when officers pulled up behind the vehicle, the two people inside jumped out and the driver started running away. After a quick computer check revealed that the vehicle was stolen, officers at the scene called for back-up to help track down the driver.
Officers eventually located the suspect within a few blocks of South Nevada and Arvada, where the vehicle had broken down. A K-9 unit forced the suspect out of hiding, and he was arrested without incident. Police say a second stolen car was located shortly after the suspect's arrest.
The suspect has been identified as Daniel Garcia. At this time there is no information provided about the stolen vehicles.
