Police are still searching for clues to find out what happened to Kelsie Schelling, a 21-year-old woman who disappeared in Pueblo more than a year ago.
Detectives and police dogs were out searching west of Pueblo again this week.
Schelling was last seen February 4, 2013. Her family says she was pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
Her family told KKTV 11 News shortly after Kelsie disappeared that she was visiting Pueblo from Denver to see Donthe Lucas, her boyfriend and father of her child. He has not been charged in connection to her disappearance.
Pueblo police say her car was left overnight in a Walmart parking lot, and surveillance video shows an unknown man picking it up the next day. The car was found about a week later at St. Mary Corwin hospital.
Police declined to elaborate on what prompted this week's search. They did say that typically, searches are revisited when there is new information or leads in the case. It's unclear if that's what happened this week.
11 News did speak with Kelsie's mother Laura Saxton on the phone Wednesday. She tells us police haven't searched for her daughter for more than a year. Saxton also said she was not notified of the search or the results. In a comment on the Pueblo Police Department's Facebook page, she wrote, "...Very disturbing and disrespectful that our family has to find out via Facebook."
The family has recently hired a criminal investigator for the case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867)
