Colorado Springs police are trying to put all the pieces of an overnight shooting together that sent one person to the hospital early Saturday morning.

Officers in the area of North Carefree Circle and Van Teylingin Drive heard multiple gun shots shortly before 2 a.m. Investigating the shots, one officer saw several vehicles leaving the area. The officer was able to stop one of the vehicles. The vehicle has several bullet holes, but no one inside was hit.

The driver of that car told police that the gunfire came from a gray sedan. Police were told that a blue sedan was also in the area at the time of the shooting. Police found that car a few blocks away in the parking lot of 3204 North Academy Boulevard.

There were several bullet holes in the passenger side of the car and signs that someone may have been wounded. Police used information found in the car to track down the passenger of the car. The man had a gunshot wound in his leg. He was taken to Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening wound.

Police do not have any suspect information at this point. The Major Crimes Unit is now working on this investigation. 11 News will update this story as more information becomes available.
