Officers got a bit more than they bargained for while assisting at an accidental shooting, after the victim's step-daughter allegedly began struggling with police.
Police say the woman identified as 19-year-old Kimber Dorsey, was placed in custody after interfering with their investigation. As officers tried to place her in a patrol vehicle, Dorsey allegedly kicked at arresting officers, injuring one in the hand.
Officers were at the home on the 400 block of S. Hancock after a man accidentally shot himself in the chest and arm with an antique shotgun, causing a minor injury. Police say responding officers were investigating that incident when Dorsey interfered.
Dorsey has been charged with second-degree assault on a peace officer and obstruction. No one involved with the initial call for service was arrested.
