A 34-year-old woman faces charges for allegedly showing students a gun during an argument with children at a Denver middle school.
KUSA-TV reports Tuesday Monica Avila says her daughter was being bullied at Lake Middle School. Authorities say that during an argument Thursday and while inside her car Avila showed the students a semi-automatic handgun and said, "Look what I have."
Students alerted adults and police later arrested Avila. The Denver District Attorney's office formally charged Avila Tuesday with four counts of menacing and one count of possession of a weapon on school grounds.
She was being held on $50,000 bail. It's unclear whether Avila has retained an attorney. A woman who answered the phone at a number listed for Avila said it was an incorrect number.
