He jumped out of a moving vehicle and tried to run away.
But police say an officer was able to run down the suspect and arrest him.
The suspect, identified as Anthony Ortiviz, was allegedly spotted driving a stolen car around 1 a.m. Thursday, and refused to stop when a pursuing officer tried to pull him over in the area of Circle and I-25. That officer, Officer Wihera, decided not to chase him further.
Just moments after terminating the pursuit, police say Ortiviz and a second suspect jumped out of the stolen car. Wihera had called for backup after initially seeing the stolen car, so a second officer was in the area when Ortiviz and the other suspect tried running away. That officer was able to catch Ortiviz.
The second suspect was able to get away from the area. Police have not released a suspect description at this time.
Ortiviz was charged with theft by receiving. Police say he already had a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the incident.
