Authorities have located the driver of a SUV, who they say smashed into a local school and then ran away from the scene.

The incident happened just after midnight Thursday on the 1400 block of Chapel Hills Drive, near Academy and I-25 in Colorado Springs.

Police say the driver drove off the road and crashed into a window in the front of a building on the Summit Middle School campus, cracking the window and causing substantial damage to the brick foundation. She then ditched her Land Rover and took off before police arrived.

After searching through the early morning hours, authorities found the driver, who they have identified as Jennifer Candelaria. She was served, then released, on a number of traffic violations.
