A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Police and sheriff's deputies have responded to a neighborhood in Woodland Park after a woman's body was discovered Saturday morning around 10:30.
Woodland Police officials have confirmed that the woman who was found is 34-year old Joey Michelle Carlson.
The Teller County Coroner said Monday that Carlson died of hypothermia, or exposure to the cold.
Carlson's body was found lying on a driveway of a home on Forest Edge Circle.
Police told 11 News that Carlson resided in that neighborhood, but not in the house she was found outside of.
Colorado Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene and is assisting in the investigation.
Officials with Woodland Park Police said all unexplained deaths are treated as suspicious until the cause has been determined.
Police said that there were no apparent signs of trauma on Carlson's body.
