Plane Makes "Hard Landing" at Colorado Springs Airport

A single engine plane made a hard landing at Colorado Springs Airport Wednesday afternoon.

John McGinley, Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance confirmed the small plane was on approach to the airport just before 2 p.m. Tuesday. McGinley said the pilot made a hard landing, which damaged the front, right-side landing gear. The plane is described as a single-engine Columbia Aircraft based out of Colorado Springs.

McGinley said there was no in flight emergency and it was unclear why there was the hard landing.

The two people onboard were not hurt.

The incident did not affect regular operations at Colorado Springs Airport.
