Two aggressive pit bulls got loose around a Springs elementary school Thursday morning, threatening children at the school.

The pit bulls were running around off-leash near Scott Elementary School on 5035 Balsam just before 8 a.m. No owner was in sight, and police have still not been able to locate one, as neither dog had any sort of identifying information.

Police say that due to the "imminent threat" the dogs posed to the children, officers were forced to shoot one dog and capture the other.

The captured dog was taken to the Humane Society. There were no reported injuries.
