A storm system will begin to impact Southern Colorado by late Friday morning. Mountain locations will simply see snow, but lower elevations will see rain eventually change to snow by later Friday afternoon. Locations that are higher in elevation will see the heaviest snow, due to them seeing cooler temperatures. So, Teller County, far northwest El Paso County, and the Wet & Sangre de Cristo Mountains will likely see several inches of wet snow. The major cities will see far less amounts and the storm will exit toward early Saturday morning.
Three small fires in an apartment complex laundry room are being investigated as "suspicious."
A resident reported the fires just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. When firefighters arrived at the New Horizons Apartments near Flintridge and Academy, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the building.
Residents were evacuated while firefighters located and put out the flames. The Colorado Springs Fire Department says they were able to get the fires out quickly, and that none of them caused significant damage. No one at the scene was injured.
At this time, the three fires are being treated as arson.
