A strong cold front will move through Southern Colorado today. It will bring much colder temperatures (especially in the afternoon), strong wind, a few rain/snow showers, and blowing dust to Southern Colorado. Light snow accumulations and poor visibility will be possible for a time this afternoon and evening north of Colorado Springs and south/southwest of Pueblo. Blowing dust will be mostly likely on the Eastern Plains, where a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect. Bottom-line, your Tuesday will feel (and look) a lot different than the past two days. Be prepared...
A close call for a southwest side neighborhood, after an alert citizen noticed a pipe bomb and called police.
The pipe bomb was found in front of a four-plex in the area of East Navajo and Nevada.
Police believe someone left the bomb behind after trying and failing to detonate it.
Police evacuated the area after getting on scene and confirming that it was, indeed, an explosive. Barbara Miller, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Springs Police Department, says that it would have blown up a nearby truck and shaken the neighborhood had it gone off.
Miller says the bomb is likely not related to the explosive found off Oro Blanco and Carefree.
The bomb was removed safely from the area.
