A Springs police officer spring into action after spotting a fire in front of a home early Saturday morning.

Officer Steven Wren was on his way to an unrelated call just before 4 a.m. when he passed by a home and saw flames in front of the garage--which were starting to spread. He immediately evacuated the six people inside the house and called the fire department.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before they reached the structure, keeping the fire contained to the area in front of the garage.

At this time, there's no word on what caused the fire.

The house is located on the 2800 block of Wyatt Street, which is on the southeast side of the Springs off of Hancock Expressway.
