The number of homes destroyed in the Black Forest Fire has been reduced after a new damage report was released on Tuesday.
According to the El Paso County Assessor’s Office, the number of destroyed homes is now 486, down from the previous 511. That assessment was done by the Sheriff’s Office.
11 News talked with El Paso County Assessor, Mark Lowderman, who says they have completed the residential portion of the assessment, but that the outbuildings and commercial property are not done yet. He expects that damage estimate to be completed by the end of the week.
The total damage estimate for the Black Forest Fire at this point is $85,444,052.
