Neighbors held down an armed suspect until police arrived on scene.

Police say 29-year-old Yevgeny Melnikov is now booked in the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Melnikov is accused of going into his neighbor's backyard with a gun Friday night and firing the weapon towards a car. The vehicle was occupied but no one was reported injured.

Witnesses apprehended Melnikov and kept him from running before police could arrive. Once Springs officers got to the scene on Willamette Place, near Circle and Platte, he was taken into police custody.

Melnikov faces charges of illegal discharge, reckless endangerment and obstructing a police officer.
