A motorcyclist allegedly tried to escape police during a routine traffic stop late Monday night.

Police say the driver got off his motorcycle and ran after officers tried stopping him in the area of Galley and North Academy for broken head and tail lights. Officers caught him after a short chase.

After taking the driver into custody, police determined he had no license, proof of insurance or vehicle registration. Officers then allegedly found almost two grams of meth, drug paraphernalia and a handgun, all of which police say put the driver in violation of an existing protection order.

Erick Walker, 24, was arrested and taken to the CJC.
