A motorcyclist was killed Friday morning in a grisly accident on I-225 in Aurora.
According to Aurora police, a minivan traveling ahead of the motorcycle began to slow for traffic. The motorcyclist lost control as he tried to slow down, and may have bumped into the minivan. His bike tipped over into the neighboring lane, where he was ran over by an oncoming semi-truck.
The crash happened near Mississippi Avenue, which is a construction zone. Drivers were trapped between the crash site and Mississippi Avenue for more than an hour until the construction company removed some of the barriers in order to divert traffic.
The victim has not been identified, but the police department says all involved are males. Alcohol and excessive speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.
