The man suspected of shooting a deputy has been identified today as the deputy is released from the hospital to recover at home.

The Montrose County Sheriff's Office says the suspect is 52-year-old Kent Calhoun.

Calhoun is believed to have shot Deputy Corey Larsen just before 2 Monday morning when Larsen was responding to a domestic violence call.

Authorities say Larsen was shot when the male suspect opened the door. Larsen and a second deputy were at the home to talk to the male party in the dispute.

After SWAT entered the home, Calhoun's body was found. Investigators have not said whether or not the deputies returned fire, and a cause of death for Calhoun has not been released.

Following Monday's shooting incident, Deputy Corey Larsen was released today from St. Mary's Hospital. He will be recuperating at home in Montrose.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is handling the investigation.
