A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
Work has begun on a new memorial in Aurora that will commemorate Coloradoans who died in service to their country.
Designed to resemble the shape of the Rocky Mountains, the $700,000 Colorado Freedom Memorial will list the names of nearly 6,000 fallen servicemen and servicewomen.
According to the Denver Post, organizers broke ground Saturday.
Rick Crandall, president of the Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation, says the memorial "is providing all of us an opportunity to make sure we never forget that loss."
Crandall, a morning radio host for KEZW, formed the foundation after broadcasting live from the American cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, in 2000.
The memorial, which will list casualties from every branch of the military, beginning with the Spanish-American War, should be finished by May 26.
