A man who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and stabbed a man is now behind bars.
Pueblo police were tipped off that 23-year-old Roy Gonzales was inside a home on the 100 block of Arthur Sunday night. When officers arrive, Gonzales allegedly tried to escape out the back of the house, but realized he was cornered. Police arrested him without incident after being permitted to search the home.
In June, Gonzales allegedly threw his girlfriend out of a moving car east of Pueblo after they got into an argument. Gonzales’ girlfriend, 23-year-old Crystal Gallegos, told police she was then forced back into the car. During the ride, Gallegos says Gonzales was also threatening and assaulting her.
Though injured, Gallegos was eventually able to get away by jumping out of the moving vehicle.
At some point that night, police say Gonzales also stabbed 23-year-old Antonio Archuleta at a home on West 18th Street. Archuleta was able to get himself to the ER, where he was treated.
Police thought they had their man last week when they were tipped off that Gonzales was at a home on Sprague. After a several-hour-long standoff, it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity: one of the men inside had a similar name, Ray Gonzales.
Roy Gonzales was booked on two counts of violation of bail bond conditions, two counts of restraining order violation, and three warrants.
