Police tell us the driver in a one-vehicle crash at the Citadel Mall Sunday morning has died.
The driver reportedly hit a concrete wall north of the JC Penney's, in the parking lot across from the UMB Bank. Police say he was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Fire crews were the first to respond to the crash, which happened around 11 a.m. The driver was reportedly trapped and had to be extricated. He died at the scene.
CSPD's Major Accident Unit is conducting an investigation into the crash. At this time, they don't know if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The driver was the only person in the car. At this, his identity has not been released.
