The suspect in a deadly nightclub shooting has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, the court decided Friday.

Dwight Gordon Jr. was convicted for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Fort Carson soldier last summer at the Golden Cue, a Springs club located on the southeast side of town. A second soldier, 27-year-old Autumn Santos, was wounded.

According to an arrest affidavit, Gordon pulled out a gun and fired one shot after getting into a fight with victim Kenderick James, 23. James' girlfriend told authorities James stepped in front of her after Gordon fired the first shot--and then Gordon fired a second shot and hit him.

The girlfriend was later able to lead police to Gordon's home. Police say Gordon tried to run after noticing authorities at his apartment complex, but was found a short time later hiding in bushes.
