PUEBLO, Colo. A man has been taken to the hospital after police say he was hit by a train.
The incident happened on Dillon in Pueblo, east of the Walmart.
The victim is identified as 22-year-old Michael Holmes. Police say both his legs were severed, and one of his arms was badly injured. He's reported to be in serious condition.
Police say train personnel reported seeing something on the tracks ahead and tried to stop, but weren't able to. As the train crew got closer they saw a person laying on the tracks with their legs extended over the rails.
We talked to witnesses who work nearby who say they heard a loud shrieking sound, like the sound of someone using their emergency brakes.
Pueblo Police are still investigating why Holmes was on the track.
