Police were called to an apartment complex after reports of gunfire Saturday night, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Officers say when they arrived at Grove Apartments on Bijou near Academy, they found a man in the parking lot. He appeared to have been shot.

Tuesday, his death was ruled by police to be a homicide.

The incident is still under investigation. Police earlier believed the shooting may have been instigated by a traffic accident in the parking lot just minutes before. Details about that accident and the moments leading up to the shooting have not been released at this time.

Police believe they have contacted all people involved, and say there does not appear to be a threat to the public.
