Moderate snow continues to fall for some areas of northern El Paso and Teller Counties, accumulating in the grass and yards. Meanwhile, in the plains and along the southern I-25 stretch, light rain/snow mix continues. Take it slow on the roadways - due to VERY strong winds, we are seeing blowing dirt and snow (depending on the region), which is tremendously reducing visibility. Police say a Colorado Springs man has been found guilty for second-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault.
Michael Rivera, 25, could face up to 100 years in prison. Sentencing has been set for a later date.
Back in January, Rivera kidnapped and pistol whipped his ex-girlfriend. He then drove her to a house on the east side of Colorado Springs, where he assaulted her. The victim says Rivera forced her to remove her clothing and get into the bathtub. She was able to escape out of the bathroom window after Rivera left the room, and ran to a neighbor's house for help.
Police say the victim has been in hiding since the crime happened.
