A man allegedly drove through a field, hit a tree and kept going as police tried to stop him.
Springs police say Emanuel Lopez was driving drunk.
The incident started when an officer says he saw a silver Honda Civic at the intersection of 8th Street and Brookside in Colorado Springs.
The officer says when the light turned green the vehicle didn't move for several seconds, and then took off at a high rate of speed across 8th and onto a private road for the Center of Creative Leadership.
The officer followed and that is when the Lopes allegedly started driving through the field and hit the tree before getting back onto 8th Street, driving at a high rate of speed.
The officer reportedly stopped following, but saw the car again on Highway 115. Police followed the driver to an apartment complex on Rice Road.
Lopez reportedly got out and ran away as officers went up to the car. Officers searched the area and arrested him.
Lopez is charged with vehicular eluding, traffic violations and DUI.
