A man is attacked by dogs and then later shot, all in the same night.

Super Bowl Sunday wasn't just an unlucky night for the Broncos.

On his walk home from a Super Bowl party, Nathan Schnackenberg encountered two very large, angry dogs.

"One of the dogs lunges at me and I put my arm up and it grabbed hold of my arm and started shaking it around," said Schnackenberg.

Several minutes later after screaming for help, the dogs ran off. Schnackenberg thought he was done with trouble for the night, until about half an hour later.

"I didn't see anybody else on the entire street and I felt this sharp zinging pain in my arm and heard a big bang," he said.

He had been shot while standing near Bijou and I-25. It was a streak of bad luck that was almost unbelievable when police responded.

"They didn't believe me at first because it's kinda a strange story," he said.

Once Colorado Springs Police investigated, they realized they did have a shooting suspect on the loose.

"You kinda hope that it's somebody just screwing around and playing with their dad's gun, that would be ideal. That scenario is much better to me than somebody who's out there trying to kill me," said Schnackenberg.

If you have any information about either of those events, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
