Springs police arrested a man after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman.
It happened around 2 p.m. Sunday at 2700 Arlington Dr. in Colorado Springs.
When the officers talked with the victim, she told them the suspect invited her to his apartment. Once inside, the suspect began groping the victim and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The victim said she tried to escape but was unable to fight off the suspect.
Friends of the victim hear her screaming and came to help her. They were able to distract the suspect until police arrived.
The suspect became aggressive with responding officers and tried to resist arrest, resulting in a scuffle between suspect and police. Officers were eventually able to restrain him and take him into custody. Both officers received minor injuries during the scuffle.
Darrell Innis, 31, is charged with sexual assault and second-degree assault on an officer.
