The Colorado Bureau of Investigation reported Sunday afternoon the Amber Alert issued for a young boy from Longmont has been cancelled.

The following is the brief statement released Sunday afternoon:

"Child is safe, suspect in custody."

Monty Turner was reportedly arrested without incident by the Brandon, Manitoba PD at the Casablanca Motor Lodge in Canada.

The Amber Alert was first issued 3-year-old Luke Turner Saturday after police say his father assaulted his estranged wife and then kidnapped their child.

Authorities say Monty Ray Turner, 51, broke into his estranged wife's home Saturday morning, tazed and pepper-sprayed his wife, then took their son, Luke.

On Sunday, May 26, authorities arrested Monty Ray Turner's father. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Ronald Turner early Sunday after he was found driving a truck that Turner was previously believed to be driving.

Ronald Turner was arrested as an accessory to the kidnapping after being pulled over outside Springfield, Mo. Longmont Police believe the boy and his father might be in another car or might have been dropped off somewhere.

Turner is the non-custodial parent, and was already under a restraining order prohibiting any contact with Luke due to previous abductions.

“They were last seen riding away on bicycle with a kids seat. The bike was last seen east bound on Mt. View Avenue from Independence Drive. We believe Monty Turner may have parked a vehicle nearby and has since fled in that vehicle,” Longmont police said in a statement.

According to police, Monty Turner has an arrest warrant for failure to comply with a $50,000 bond. He will be facing additional charges related to the kidnapping, burglary and assault.
