An inmate at the Pueblo County Detention Center faces new charges after allegedly attacking a fellow inmate.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says an altercation broke out in the maximum security area of the detention center late Thursday night, possibly stemming from the theft of telephone calling cards. John Lovato allegedly assaulted 35-year-old Richard Jaramillo, injuring his face. Jaramillo remained in the hospital as of Friday night.
Lovato had been serving time since last October for third-degree assault and drug charges, as well as a parole hold. Since Thursday's incident, he now faces second-degree assault charges.
