A man accused of shooting at police will be evaluated for mental competency.
A judge made the decision at an arraignment for Frank Goad, 54, Thursday morning.
Police say Goad was on the run for several days in late July and early August after firing at Springs officers. The officers were responding to gunshots that had been heard near a storage unit in the area of I-25 and Fillmore, and say when Goad saw them he started shooting.
Goad allegedly took off, and was located in Manitou Springs four days later. He now faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer and aggravated robbery. Police say Goad is also accused of carjacking and robbing a Springs 7-Eleven.
