The nun who founded the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration is scheduled to be beautified in November. The Vatican approved a Colorado Springs-based miracle that is attributed to the intercession of Mother Theresia Bonzel, who founded the order.
The Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration have a motherhouse in the Colorado Springs diocese.
Mother Bonzel will be beautified in Paderborn, Germany. The miracle that happened in Colorado Springs was nearly 15 years ago. A 4-year-old boy in 1999 was healed after he prayed for intercession to Mother Bonzel. The boy suffered from severe gastrointestinal symptoms. The illness suddenly stopped after the prayers. His doctors couldn't explain how he was healed.
The healing was reported to the Vatican in 2001.
Mother Bonzel founded the Sisters of St. Francis of perpetual Adoration in 1863 in Olpe, Germany. She lived to the age of 74 and died in 1905.
